Land, Air, Water (Lesson for 3 and up)
One of the first geography activities in Montessori is the land, air and water lesson. In this post I will focus on how to introduce this lesson.
This geography lesson can be introduced when your child is 3 years old. The objective of this lesson is to have your child explore the elements of Earth.
To introduce this lesson you will need to put together a tray with a small globe (optional) and 3 empty glass containers labeled land, air, and water. You then can explain that Earth is made up of land, air and water. Ask them if they can help you fill the containers with each item labeled. You will fill one with water, the other with dirt, and the last will have air.

FREE PRINTABLES available at the end of this post.
You can then use this set of free printables to have your child sort each card to the appropriate jar. I have included a transportation set and an animal set. You are welcome to mix them up or you can use them as two separate sets until your child is more comfortable with this lesson.
