Easy Process Art: Painting with Lego

Process art is exactly what it sounds like. It is all about the process and not the end result. It helps promote curiosity and encourages sensory exploration.

2 and up

What you need:

How to:
1. Set out the paint. (I like to use primary colors)
2. Pick out legos of the same color and have your child match the lego to the same colored paint. This is a great way for them to work on their color matching.
3. Encourage them to continue to match the lego to the correct colored paint as they create their art. (red lego in the red paint, the yellow lego in the yellow paint, and the blue lego in the blue paint)
4. Give them space to explore and create. Yes, eventually the colors may mix and that is part of the learning.

– Make sure to talk about the colors you are using.
– Ask them what shapes they see: circles, squares, rectangles

Have your child use different materials to paint and explore texture, patterns, shapes, and color. This is also a wonderful sensory experience, and they will be working on grip and hand-eye coordination.
